POSITION:                  SCHEDULING COORDINATOR
CLASSIFICATION:     PART-TIME, NON-EXEMPT
REPORTS TO:             COMMUNICATION ACCESS DEPARTMENT MANAGER
LOCATION:                ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI
SALARY:                     HOURLY WAGE COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

POSITION SUMMARY:

Deaf Empowerment Awareness Foundation, Inc. (DEAF, Inc.) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides community support and 24/7 communication access services, including ASL interpreting and captioning/CART, for the deaf, hard of hearing, and deafblind communities. This position is primarily responsible for the identification, scheduling, and placement of ASL interpreters and captioners by performing the following duties, personally or alongside the department team. This position will work office hours as well as on-call.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

 

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for scheduling inquiries, service quotes, and customer concerns

  • Manage and assign service requests using scheduling software, ensuring accuracy and timely fulfillment

  • Maintain and update scheduling software to track assignments, service provider and customer preferences, and other related information

  • Communicate effectively with customers, service providers, clients, and internal staff via phone, email, and other communication channels

  • Use sound judgment when assigning work to prevent service provider burnout and ensure service quality

  • Provide high-quality customer support while upholding professional standards and strict confidentiality

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, service providers, and the communities served

  • Stay informed on field-related legal requirements to ensure compliance

  • Notify management of any concerns related to scheduling, customer service, or interpreting services

  • Maintain organized records, submit necessary documentation, and attend staff/department meetings

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Manager

 
Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Three (3) years of relevant work experience 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365

  • Strong understanding of the importance of communication access 

  • Flexible schedule to accommodate department needs 

  • Willingness to learn industry culture and standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree 

  • Experience working in a nonprofit organization

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in high-stress situations 

  • Strong multitasking skills, including handling multiple calls simultaneously

  • Adaptability to fast-paced and evolving work conditions with shifting priorities 

  • Strong customer service, phone etiquette, and interpersonal skills 

  • Punctuality and availability for last-minute tasks as needed by the department
