Deaf Advocacy |
Empowerment |
| DEAF Inc. provides advocacy by educating the hearing (and deaf) community about the various rights and communication needs of the diverse deaf and hard of hearing population. However, most often it means making calls or writing letters of support with, or on behalf of clients to medical communities, DMV’s and traffic schools, businesses and educational institutions, or lawyers and law enforcement, to advocate for better understanding, responsibility and compliance with state and federal laws and regulations regarding a deaf person’s right to equal communication access. This includes advocating for their rights to appropriate educational placement for their children, accessible and affordable housing, and the right to access and receive services in a timely manner equal to the mainstream hearing world. |
Because of their deafness, deaf and hard of hearing people sometimes lack full access to information to make proper decisions in their lives.
We aim to increase their knowledge to enhance the spiritual, political, social or economic strength of deaf and hard of hearing communities.
Through workshops, seminars and inidivdual one-and-one situations, our goal is to develop confidence in deaf and hard of hearing people in their own capacities.

Late Deafened Adult Program |
Deaf and HH Awareness |
| Late-Deafened Adults are people who have lost the ability to understand the spoken language with or without hearing aids. Just imagine, one day from an accident or illness you unexpectedly turn out to be deaf and you are frustrated by the sudden loss, and wonder how you are going to be able to communicate and survive with the severe emotions from your loss. We at Deaf Inc. have established a program to allow late-deafened adults to share their unique experiences, challenges and making solutions along with emotional support. We are looking for people who share the same experience and work together to find solutions to the everyday challenges of living with hearing loss. We utilize various means of communication, such as speech, speech-reading, sign language, and/or pencil-and-paper. We encourage seminars, programs to enhance self-help, outreach, and advocacy. We provide assistance in finding assistive technologies for people who are not able to hear alarms, telephones and etc. We aim to provide a nurturing environment where we can share our unique experiences, where we can help one another, and where we no longer feel alone and estranged from the hearing world. |
Your organization probably has deaf or hard of hearing customers, clients or visitors and you are looking for training for yourself or colleagues who may have contact with deaf and hard of hearing people. Through interactive activities, you and your staff will gain a unique perspective on the deaf and hard of hearing experience, enabling more effective communication with coworkers who have a hearing loss. We will tailor the program just for you! |
