Deaf and hard of hearing people are a closely-knit group. The deaf often get together and socialize together.   Using sign language, they are at ease communicating with each other because they are familiar with each other’s communication needs. There are also deaf and hard of hearing organizations, clubs, churches and schools that are sensitive to deaf culture.

What do they talk about? You can be sure that they are talking about which businesses and agencies provide effective communication solutions and which do NOT.  When one deaf or hard of hearing person hears of a business or agency that’s friendly to deaf and hard of hearing, they will remember.  The deaf are very loyal to those who treat them with respect.

Since the passage of the Americans with Disability Act in 1991, the economy power of the disabled community, especially the deaf and hard and hard of hearing population, has increased dramatically. There are over 175 billion dollars in discretionary spending power in the disabled community – more money than even teenagers have to spend.
