At DEAF Inc., we believe in empowering deaf individuals by helping them learn and grow so they can advocate for themselves. We also believe that it is important to advocate for the deaf and hard of hearing communities as a whole. For example, laws may be taking shape in the legislatures that will have an effect on deaf people.  We work to pull together deaf and hearing communities to make sure that the deaf are included in such decisions.   This is what we call advocacy.  We advocate for the deaf and hard of hearing as a group. We do this by collaborating with other deaf organizations, by contacting lawmakers, courts, and other professionals to bring deaf issues to their attention, educating them about the particular problems facing deaf and hard of hearing communities. We develop new ideas and promote new technologies that benefit deaf and hard of hearing people.  We also provide information to people like you about current issues affecting the deaf so that we can work together to make positive change.

911 Accessiblity - How will the transformation of the 911 emergency system affect the deaf?

 

MCDHH - How can we help the Missouri Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing?

 

MOAD v. DMH - Learn why the Missouri Association for the Deaf is suing the Missouri Department of Mental Health.
