Digital Media Specialist

Position Description:
Under marketing director’s supervision, responsibilities include: organizing, videotaping, and editing video productions to achieve the desired promotional and/or educational objectives; designing and managing content on DEAF Inc. website(s). May assist in evaluating program objectives and target audience; Attain desired goals; staying within budget, time, and facility limitations; interacting with other participants involved in multiple productions.
Essential Functions :
1. Designs, transports, set up, and operate production equipment, including audio and lighting equipment, for field
and studio productions.
2. Computer edits videotape segments on a variety of tape formats.
3. Maintains field and studio production schedules.
4. Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast pace environment.
5. Prepare and package files for distribution.
6. Develops design templates for marketing team’s consideration and approval.
7. Provides feedback on website architecture and format, its features and functionality to be included.
8. Ensures the website(s) are in compliance with media accessibility rules.
9. Work to ensure compatibility with backend development.
10. Ensures graphics and HTML are optimized and efficient.
11. Verifies facts and content through the marketing team.
12. Coordinate and capture highest quality photos for promotional media.
13. Assists Marketing Director in developing and maintaining branding.
14. Designs e-mail newsletters.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.
Nonessential Functions:
1. Performs other additional duties as directed by the marketing director.
Required Qualifications :
1. Ability to effectively manage time and schedules.
2. Ability to configure, operate, troubleshoot and maintain studio and/or field audio, lighting and associated production
equipment.
3. Basic Knowledge of CSS, HTML, HTML5, PHP, ASP and JavaScript.
4. Basic Knowledge of Macromedia Flash and Macromedia.
5. Detailed Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite CS4+ (Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, InDesign, etc.).
6. Experienced with iMovie and Final Cut Pro; knowledge of audio and/or digital editing and post-production
principles, techniques; requirements and set-ups;
7. Must be a creative problem solver, a team player, and a good communicator.
Preferred Qualifications :
1. Experience working with the deaf and hard of hearing community is highly desirable. Must be familiar with deaf
and hard of hearing culture; use sign language to communicate effectively with signing consumers.
2. Bachelor Degree in Digital Media, Mass Communication, Public Relations, Video Production, Web Development
and other related areas (desired but not required).
