Deaf Awarenesses

DEAF Inc. hosts or participates in several awareness events each year.   We hope to make communication more effective between deaf and hearing people by helping both cultures to understand each other better.

Support Groups

Too often, the Deaf are unable to access the resources or support from "mainstream" support groups because of communication barriers or because of a lack of interpreters. At DEAF Inc., support groups are facilitated using the primary mode of communication - sign language.

Communication is an essential part of being a human being. We all want to be able to express ourselves, and to understand what others are saying.  We strive to work together as a society.  Communication barriers prevent some of us from being part of this great experience. As a result, Deaf and Hard of Hearing people do have the tendency to exclude themselves from the “hearing” world.  At the same time, those who have the sense of hearing are also missing “deaf” culture.  Through awareness, we will bring these two cultures together.

It's all about communication!
