Too often, deaf and hard of hearing people miss out community information, especially in the area of emergency preparedness. Most of the media and materials are not readily available to the population that uses American Sign Language as their primary mode of communication.

DEAF Inc. participates in numerous of emergency preparedness committees in Greater St. Louis Metro area and advocates for accessiblity to the deaf and hard of hearing population.

DEAF Inc. collected information from its partners in emergency preparedness and created preparedness video in sign language so sign language users can learn how to become prepared for disasters. The videos are also closed captioned for hard of hearing people.
